Children & Piglets at Folly

Folly Farm Pig

This week saw the arrival of two welcome visitors; St Marks Primary School from Weston-Super-Mare and our new family of piglets (not together, I may add!).

The groups of year one pupils came to Folly Farm for a fun day exploring the world of minibeasts. They took part in activity trails, games and woodland exploration – all about minibeasts. The class teacher, Mrs Drabble left saying what a wonderful day thie group had and it fit in nicely with the current class topic.

Despite all the hard work from the Folly Farm education team however, the real stars of the show were our 3 week old Gloucester Old Spot piglets and sow, who are living in the old pigsties at Folly Farm for the summer. Our grazier, Tom Rogers, likes to keep them at Folly Farm because of all the wonderful open space for them to enjoy. They will be there for 6-7 weeks and are usually happy to say hello to visitors.
