Bristol Children's Hospital Visited Folly Farm

Five wonderful children from Bristol Children’s Hospital visited Folly Farm today to explore the wonders of the new pond. They happily braved a torrential rain shower to see what they could find living there and then took some of the creatures into the classroom to have a closer look and learn a bit about the food chains of the pond. They found some pretty big pond predators such as dragonfly and damselfly nymphs, diving beetles and greater water boatmen, and some microscopically small worms, water fleas and midge larvae. But the stars of the show (apart from the children!) were the many young newts which will hopefully grow into adults later in the year.
