Team Development and Fun Days Out

Team development events can be arranged to meet specific Objectives. These may include:

  • Improvements in understanding of team roles and their relevance to the working environment.
  • Development of communication and its relevance to effective team work and efficient productivity.
  • Or an understanding of individual motivations and their consequence on team dynamics and synergy.

Our dedicated team of instructors have more than 20 years of experience providing events, and a lot of resources that can be called upon. This means we can listen to what you want from an event and then build a programme just for you.

Conferences

Combining an outdoor activity or team building challenge with a conference is a great way to make it a fun and memorable occasion for those attending. We can provide activities before, after or during a day or residential conference, to provide a break from the real work. We can also help you plan the right activity for your small team meeting or large company seminar, staff away-day and annual event.

Archery

ARCHERY
The ancient sport of our ancestors and an art dating back 20,000 years when the bow defended land and provided food for the table.
A weapon of legend that helped create the heroic tales of Robin Hood and played a central role in some of our country’s most historic battles. Now you can test your talent with these lethal weapons of war. See your arrows arc through the air to drive home in your target with a satisfying thump.

Find out how you shoot under the pressure of some friendly competition, or what it’s like to play darts with bow and arrow!
Whether you try this ancient sport indoors or out, our proficient coaches will ensure dramatic improvements in your skill in a short period of time. Numerous games and tales from history ensure this will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Assault Course

ASSAULT COURSE
I bet getting soaking wet and covered in mud always got you into trouble; on our fantastic assault course we positively encourage it.

Climbing over walls, balancing on beams and diving through tube slides is all part of the challenge. The better you work with your team the faster it all gets. The course is a great activity for team building or simply an excuse for lively competition with friends. Think fast, play hard and your team will conquer our assault course.

Bushcraft Survival Skills

BUSH CRAFT
People have always had an affinity with the outdoors. We have developed as a race from creatures found living off the land to today’s human, found working in an office block. There are huge advantages to warm secure surroundings but we are left with a primeval desire to be outdoors and at one with nature. There is nothing more satisfying, even relaxing, than becoming a ‘Ray Mears’ for the day; learning how to track animals, building fires and creating shelters. In fact the choices available are vast, whether you’d like an interesting afternoon or a weekend out in the wild, we can arrange the perfect experience.

We run basic environmental bush craft sessions ourselves but also use highly trained consultants for more advanced sessions and trips. We can arrange bush craft weekends staying out in the wild or self-sufficient canoe trips with overnight stops. These sessions are fascinating, you will see everything around you in a different light.

Climbing

CLIMBING
A bastion of rock presents a challenge, a call to adventure, a taunt to our most primeval compulsion to conquer what is unobtainable, to pit one’s strength and determination against nature and triumph against the odds.

Climbing is about moving into the unknown, stepping outside a zone of security and proving to yourself that you can persevere. Feel the overwhelming exhilaration of reaching your goal, of moving on steep rock with your feet and hands while controlling trepidation and thoughts of the ground.
The Mendip Hills have some of the best limestone climbing in Britain. The variety of climbs at our local crags allow you to learn the basics on gentle routes, but give scope for the more adventurous to test themselves on steeper climbs, where balance and courage are vital for success. Your instructor will coach and encourage you whilst ensuring your complete safety and well being.

Most exercises can be performed both indoors and out. Much of the kit has been specifically built for the purpose. Each exercise can help highlight and develop particular team and personal skills including, communication, co-operation, leadership and time management. But, most importantly they are all great fun.

Kayaking, Caving

KAYAKING
There’s something relaxing about propelling a craft down picturesque rivers, taking in the scenery and enjoying the tranquility.

Equally, there’s something fantastically brilliant about running along the top of everyone’s boats, splashing people and getting wet. Whether you want fun and games or a relaxing paddle, kayaking has it all. Learn how to control your kayak, play an abundance of games and challenges and have loads of fun. Beginner sessions start with your instructor explaining how to use the paddle, and what happens if you fall in. Your instructor will tailor the session to your needs by mixing games and challenges designed to improve your paddling and water confidence. Your instructor will always be close at hand to coach and help you back into your boat if you fall out. Courses are offered up to British Canoe Union 2 star.

Mission Impossible Challenge™

Has your team got the leadership to be decisive yet imaginative?
Has your team got the drive to beat the competition?
Has your team got what it takes to overcome the impossible?
If it has you can test your resolve with our ‘Mission Impossible Challenge™’

Mission Impossible™ is a race against the clock and the competition, in which leadership and initiative are paramount to achieving the impossible. Set across parklands and woodland, your team must find the locations where tasks await. Each team will travel the same distance and complete identical missions, but only the team with both speed and ingenuity can make it back first and complete the impossible mission—collecting the prize and glory!

The day starts with a briefing to the teams before you head off and put your team skills on the line. Find your way around the course and complete each mind-boggling puzzle set to complete the mission. Only the first team back will be truly victorious. Open Canoeing

OPEN CANOEING
Open Canoes allow so many possibilities. Whether you want a gentle paddle down some of the most tranquil and picturesque rivers in the South West, or a floating platform for jumping in the water and playing fabulous games with friends, open canoeing provides it all.
The boats are stable, making falling out an effort, yet great fun to tip, if that’s what you want. Because there is often two people in a canoe it’s very easy to control. You could have a day trip down a river, really going somewhere, or an exciting day and go nowhere at all. Open canoeing really is a sport for all.

Sessions start with your instructor explaining how to use the paddle, how to work with your partner, as well as what happens if the canoe tips over. Once on the water the instructor will tailor the session to your requirements mixing games with coaching. If you would like to take canoeing further we can arrange day trips on the River Wye or River Avon; we can also arrange longer expeditions, camping out en-route.

Raft Building

RAFT BUILDING
How would you survive stuck on a deserted island? Would you have what it takes to persevere, build a raft and sail to civilisation?
Why not find out with one of our challenging raft building activities. With a pile of poles, rope, barrels and your own ingenuity you and your team have to construct a raft. Your raft has to survive launch then carry your team, keeping them dry, on the water. Once you’ve proved your skills and built a raft worthy of Thor Heyerdahl and his Kon-Tiki, you get to use it for races, challenges or just a platform for jumping in and having fun. If you’re real construction engineers your raft may be in one piece come the end of the session.

Rafting sessions are great fun and educational too. You’ll learn about knots and lashings, and what makes a good raft. You might want to know what Archimedes discovered while sitting in his bathtub and how relevant it is to all water craft. Rafting is sometimes used as part of large challenges and day events. Whatever you’ve decided to do your instructor will ensure your raft is something special. And if special doesn’t float they’ll be there to pull you out.

Many of our activities and events are specifically designed to help demonstrate the different elements of effective teamwork. By allowing participants to learn through active experimentation and hands-on challenges, we can help highlight how similar skills and behaviours can be successfully translated to the workplace. In addition to the activities themselves, our trained facilitators will also help develop this awareness with informal group discussions and reviews.

Whatever the objective of your event we will find the most suitable activities, locations and facilities to suit your exact requirements.

The whole team had such a great time, and really loved the venue, food, woods, and badgers, just everything!!!
